                                                Free at Last:

If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed
(John 8:36)

It's Independence Day here in America and everyone is anticipating the barbeques, picnics and fire works. It's a day filled with family fun for most Americans. There are many other nations who also have a national holiday to celebrate their independence. What all of these countries have in common is the desire to remember that at one point in their history they were able to break free from a tyrannical and suppressive ruler.

As Christians everyday should be a celebration of our freedom. The day we were set free from the tyrannical chains of sin. We should celebrate every day Jesus' triumph over death, hell and the grave (Revelation 1:18). We are to remember that He led captivity captive (Ephesians 4:8). We were all wretched sinners with no hope or future just the certainty of judgment and the everlasting flames of Hell. But then, our deliverer came, and gave us a future and a hope. Praise be to God who always causes us to triumph. (John 8:32)

So, let everyday be a celebration of our independence. Not by sending rockets skyward, but by sending our praises heavenward, by lifting up holy hands to God our Father and to Jesus Christ who is seated at the right hand of The Father ever making intersession for us.

Hallelujah, we've been set free. Happy Independence Day to all of my brothers and sisters in the Lord.
